Partay!

So, last Friday was my ice cream social. I decided to have one to get friends and a few family together just because. Have a little ice cream. Have a little wine. Have a little fun. For a week or so heading up to this, my sweet husband "Chef Chrissy" (as one friend of my friends calls him) was so worried where everybody was going to sit. We have a one bedroom apartment and no kitchen/dining room table to set things on. (Sidebar: We are eventually going to get a little 2 top table.) I kept telling him it would all work out & I wasn't worried about it. Guess what, it worked itself out!!

We had so much fun. I meant to take pictures but absolutely forgot. The only downside to this party was the leftover JUNK that I can't quit eating. I even said "I'm going to bag it up & take it to my parents house" because they have the grandkids. Yeah, there really isn't anything to take. I just wish I didn't like sweets so much!! One night, I think Tuesday, I thought I was going to go throw up. Literally. But like Seinfeld, I haven't thrown up since the stomach virus of 2003. 6 years folks & no vomit. I think my husband has gone 6 days without getting sick but I never think twice about it. Poor thing.

It sure was fun. I'll have to do it again real soon.

HGM

Ok. I love the Real Housewives of Atlanta and this is one reason why. The last line about "Who says 'Yo Mama'? Where's the customer service?" just about had me on the floor! I also loved "Who gonna check me boo?!" Watch for the veins in Sheree's neck. Oh boy. Let the yelling commence:

Tired

You know, everybody gets tired. Literally and mentally. I'll tell you several things I'm (recently) tired of even mentally thinking about:
  • Money - We have none and I'm tired of worrying.
  • Feelings - I'm getting tired of worrying about if my words (whether said outloud or typed on the internet) are going to bother, hurt, upset somebody etc. I really could go on further but I'm tired of it.
  • Mexican dude - I'm tired of the same mexican dude asking me for my numbre. Dude I'm married!!
  • Barking - I love Happy but I wish he wouldn't bark at everything. Sometimes it's just nothing but he's barking!
  • Cleaning - I wish I didn't have to clean. I can only imagine what it's like when we have a house.
  • Caring - So this is kind of a subcategory of feelings. I'm tired of caring how some people feel about nothing. I really don't care.
  • Exercising - I hate that I have a horrible metabolism & have to workout. I'm just tired of it.
  • Animal Clothing - No further comment needed.

There's a reason I typed this and probably 3 people (husband & mother included but they never read this) that know why I'm typing this. I care not to divulge because there are just certain things I'm tired of. I'm just tired of stupidness & foolishness and DRAMA over nothing. I'm so sick of it. I've decided that when drama comes from a certain direction I'm just going to Get That Dirt OFF MY SHOULDA

A.R.C

I love my husband the chef. My husband has some tendencies that reminded me of the Anal Rententive Chef from SNL. (R.I.P. Phil Hartman!) Now I found this clip and started laughing because I forgot that my mom used to staple my brown paper sack lunch when I was in elementary school. It was neatly folded (as does the ARC) and stapled right in the center. Ahh, I love my mom as she also can be anal rententive.

Anyway, the way he uses aluminum foil cracks me up b/c that's how Chris does sometimes. I swear if I see him making a tape dispenser cozy, I don't know what I'll do. I'll still love him because he really is a good chef!

Jams

In order to tell you about a website, I feel that I must go around the mulberry bush to chase this weasel. If you don’t care, skip to the bottom, click the link & figure it out yourself.

So the other day, I went to a going away party for some of my husband’s co-workers – that I’ve never met. There is a program (kind of like exchange students) that allows people from Malasyia to come work here for a year. There is a group leaving this month so they had a shin-dig. It was odd, for me anyway, because it takes me a while to warm up to people. I have to dish out tidbits of my personality & see what works. I’m sarcastic & evidently, the Malasyian sense of humor doesn’t understand sarcasm. I finally shut my mouth, smiled & nodded where appropriate. After awhile, people wanted music. One guy got his laptop. Yeah newsflash: You can’t bring your laptop & expect people on the other side of the pool to be able to hear it. Where I was sitting, I could hear. The guy was picking lame songs. Like Technotronic or some 90’s club re-mix. So another guy was yelling “PANDORA.COM” and I’m thinking it’s a band or an inside joke.

However, it’s a cool website where you can make your own radio stations. I cautiously searched it with my mouse on "x" as I was prepared for the worse. When strangers give you a website, you never know. You type in an artist & it plays songs that sound similar. Awesome. You can even add artists to a category. For instance, I typed Linkin Park & then added 311, Metallica and several more. Then I went into the genres category & picked Southern Rap & then added old skool rap artists. So I got my rock station & my rap station. My office is so quiet, I must hear music. Otherwise, I go insane. I ain't afraid to jam to Rock Box by RUN DMC. You better recognize.

If I could literally jam in my office, this is what I would look like (minus the friends) as this was taken at the NKOTB concert:

Apparently pointing is the new Cabbage Patch. Also, I realize the randomness of my musical tastes but that's how I roll.

Having said all that, here it is.

Weekend

So this weekend was eventful. Baby shower. Jogging. Movie. Albeit, not necessarily in that order. I jogged a whole mile without stopping. To some, that’s nothing but to me, that’s a milestone. Anyway, my 5 year old nephew stayed with my parents this weekend. I went over and visited. He did the typical “Come look at my room” business – which really was my old bedroom but I was the good aunt & acted surprised. He shut the door and turned on the radio and proceeded to do rock moves and rap moves. His DJing skills are mad crazy. Knowing that I love rap music, well it melted my heart.

I went with them to see the movie “Up”. On the way to the movie, he made me sit in the, what we call “way back” of my parents SUV. Not easy, but I did it for him. The movie was VERY cute. I don’t have kids but it’s a movie I’d love to have. There is a sweet/endearing message to it and yes, the woman next to me cried like the entire time. What? Yeah I know. Even her daughter was like “mom, why are you crying?” Whatever. I know there were several parts that I laughed just as hard, if not harder than my nephew. This dog cracked me up:

No!

For those that don't know me, I am very anti-animals-in-clothing. Don't get me wrong, I love our animals. I just can't imagine putting Bear (black lab mix) in a jersey. I don't even think that's cute at a football game. Sorry. It gets on my nerves more than anything. I mean, Bear hates it when I try to just touch his paws, although I did teach him to give a high five. OH & don't get me started on Happy. He would chew up the ensemble before I had it on him. I wouldn't even get mad at him.

Also, yes, we are those people that their animals are their babies. We even refer to them as "the boys". We even call Happy "Baby Hap". Now clearly, when we have children (which will be a while) that will change. Until then, you can get over it because I love our babies. I realize they are animals but I also realize that in a survival situation, they would be our dinner.

5K

At first, I wasn't sure if I should mention it here, but here goes nothing. In September, I'm running a 5K to help the local Humane society. It's called Paws for the Cause. I've told very few people and I know the people that I have told, I've said it a million times. I'm very nervous but I just felt I needed to do something I've never done before. I'm not talking about first place here. I'm just talking about jogging at a snail's pace. You know what they say "you gotta crawl before you walk".

For a few weeks, I talked myself out of it. But then a co-worker asked me if I was still running it and I was just like "ehh". She said she wanted to participate. So we both just agreed to do it together!!! A few days later, I got an e-mail from somebody from this race. I forgot that I set up a profile & a picture of me with my dogs. So after I got this e-mail, I was like "ok, it's a sign you need to do it". A few days a week, my co-worker & I are going to run after work. The other days of the week, we're on our own. We started yesterday and probably jogged 23-30% of the entire 3 miles. You might think that's lame, but for the first session, that isn't half bad. Today, we figured out a pattern that would work for both of us and we'll see what happens on Thursday. So as of now, I'm thinking "RUN FOREST RUN" as I jog. It's not a pretty run, but I'm not marathon or athlete so deal with it.

Tears

Oh my. So I read the book, My Sister's Keeper, by Jodi Picoult. I very very much recommend this book. I will tell nothing of it or the movie. Today, mom & I went and saw the movie. As with most movies that are based on books, the book was WAY better. Seriously, I highly recommend it. The movie...well I cried my eyes out!!

I hate to cry in public. I hate to cry in movies because I'm not a pretty crier. My face gets all red & "splotchy". I could've stopped crying hours ago, and it's like I stopped 10 mins ago. I've learned a trick at the movies. I tune out the slow, sappy music. I block out the plot. I look around at people watching & I try to pick out bad things about their hair. I look around at the curtains on the wall or at my feet. There were several times I passed the crying test with my "movie tricks". But once I couldn't fight it, I cried the last 45 mins of the movie. There were scenes when people laughed and I didn't think anything was funny. Which is odd because I think EVERYTHING is funny. I started to get ticked off b/c just when I got it together....I cried again. I came very close to leaving the theater but what would the point be? Then when the movie was over & it ended WAY different than the book, I was so dang mad that I stayed!!!! Oh well....that's Hollywood for you!

Rude!

Why oh why can't I be on a skit like this. I'm for real when I say I'd love to be on TV. At first it was just SNL but now it's just skit television. Oh & I wish I had known about this skit prior to November. However, I thank you Suzie & Michelle for introducing me to Bon Qui Qui:

Later

I was at the gym today jogging my laps when I got a bad cramp in my side. It was a blinding cramp and I could barely breathe. Lack of potassium AND proper hydration I think. Anyway, so it went away and I decided to get on the elliptical machine. I looked down and had been on there 3:46. I stopped and walked out the gym doors. I was over working out and I was STARVING. I was absolutely the poster child for what not to do at the gym. Why did I even go if I'm going to leave 25 mins into my workout?? Who knows.

I won't be doing that stunt again as I am going to train with a co-worker for a 5K. I'm not a good runner so my goal is to jog the entire way and not come in last. I figure those are obtainable goals. My husband says "You don't run, you hustle" so I'm not going to download "The Hustle" on my Ipod. Do do do do doo dooo do dooooooooooo
